Car hire and
traffic rules
Sedans and 4x4 vehicles can be hired in nearly every
major town in Namibia. Windhoek Foreigners need
an international driver's license but visitors of
neighbouring countries are exempt from this regulation.
Motorists should always ensure that the hired vehicles
have the correct tools and if possible two spare
wheels. In Namibia, we drive on the left side of
the road. The speed limit is 120 km/h on open roads
and 60 km/h in villages/towns. However, it is advisable
to drive at a lower speed than 120 km/h on gravel
roads. Safety belts must be worn. Traffic signs
are international. Warning signs must be respected. |
